Ancient Spanish Monastery is very interesting place to visit. Located about 40 minutes north from Miami Beach or Miami Downtown. This being said, you have to have a car or live in the same area. Why is this place so interesting? Because it was originally build in Spain and way before Columbus discovered America. It was build in 1133 AD and it stood in Spain for over 700 years, until it was ruined and converted into Cloisters.
In 1925, William Randolph Hearst purchased the Cloisters and Monastery’s outbuildings. Everything was carefully dismantled stone by stone and loaded onto wooden crates and shipped to the United States. This heavy load was sitting in the Brooklyn warehouse for 26 years, when it was purchased by two men, who put it back together in South Florida. It took 19 moths and $20 million dollars, when converted to todays rate.
Nowadays, Sunday Masses are held here, it serves as a tourist attraction and you can also rent this place out for a weddings or other ceremonies.
